This is a recent side project that turned out to be pretty fun. Someone brought me a partially shaped Balsa board made from the broken remains of an old longboard and asked me to finish shape it, glass it, and make a matching Balsa fin for it. He intends to use it for decoration. It was a fun challenge to shape a completely solid board for a change. The blank was pretty beat up and there were several patches in it, but I thought it just gave it more character. It reminded me of an old board I saw in an issue of The Surfers Journal. It was solid wood and covered with patches on the bottom and had the name 'Pepe' engraved on the deck.
